The power of flowers: Health and Wellness

Flowers make a good effect on people´s lives, particularly in this era in which we are in a constant distraction of emails, cell phones, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Grabbing our attention at every second of the day and demanding our immediate response always.

Therefore, it is not a secret that we occasionally feel overwhelmed and stressed with the lifestyle we lead.  We are in a time of modernity in which there is less time to be relaxed or in contact with nature. That´s why having flowers at home will always be a good option, knowing that studies show that flowers help feed compassion, anxieties and increase enthusiasm.

Likewise, flowers provide many benefits for our physical and mental health. Bringing vibrant colors, nature and that peace that we seek so much to have. They are perfect to add that final touch to any space, besides of purifying the airwe breath giving greater tranquility and health. As stated by lead researcher Erin Largo; Associate Professor of University of North Florida´s Department of Public health, “There is a growing body of research that illustrates how environmental design positively impacts health. Now, it is both intuitive and scientifically known that adding elements of nature, like flowers, to interiors promote well-being.” The same study looked at the impact of flowers on workflow and productivity, with some huge positive results reported both men and women working in office environments, evidencing that flowers and plants can stimulate us to have more creative ideas, cooperate more efficiently and generate a sense of joy and comfort. Flowers helps people feel less depressed, nervous and enhance their sensation of life satisfaction. For example, looking at your flowers in the morning helps to have a better state of mind throughout the day, improving the mood and spreading it to other people.

Finally, having more flowers in your life has got to be a good idea, so why not include some natural flowers and let them change our day!
